Terms and Conditions

Last updated: March 2026 · Effective date: March 2026

These Terms and Conditions form a legally binding agreement between you and the company registered in England and Wales that operates Schoolio (trading name). Please read them carefully before using the service. By creating an account, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.

1. About Schoolio

Schoolio is operated by RyderCo LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company registration number: 12409843). Schoolio is a trading name.

We provide an AI-powered school communication organiser that processes forwarded school emails and delivers a daily summary to parents and guardians via WhatsApp.

For any questions about these terms, please contact us:

Email: support@getschoolio.com
Website: getschoolio.com

2. Who Can Use Schoolio

Schoolio is intended for use by parents and guardians of school-age children in the United Kingdom. To use Schoolio, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a parent, guardian, or person with parental responsibility for at least one school-age child
  • Have a valid UK mobile number capable of receiving WhatsApp messages
  • Have a valid email address
  • Agree to these Terms and Conditions in full

Schoolio is currently a consumer service only. It is not intended for use by schools, businesses, or organisations as a primary account holder. If you represent a school or organisation interested in a partnership, please contact us separately.

If you are signing up on behalf of a couple or household, each person who wishes to receive WhatsApp digests must create their own account, as one account is linked to one WhatsApp number.

3. Your Account

3.1 Creating your account

When you create a Schoolio account, you will be asked to provide your email address, mobile phone number, and details about your children and their schools (first name, school name, and year group). You are responsible for ensuring this information is accurate.

3.2 Account security

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that takes place under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@getschoolio.com if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.

3.3 One account per WhatsApp number

Each Schoolio account is linked to one unique WhatsApp number. You may not create multiple accounts for the same WhatsApp number, or transfer your account to another person.

3.4 Accurate information

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating and maintaining your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts where we reasonably believe information provided is false, misleading, or incomplete.

4. The Service

4.1 What Schoolio does

Schoolio provides the following core functionality:

  • A unique Schoolio email address to which you forward or your school(s) send school communications
  • AI-powered processing of forwarded emails to extract events, deadlines, and action items
  • A daily WhatsApp digest delivered at approximately 6pm, summarising your school communications
  • A web dashboard to view, manage, and configure your account and children's details

4.2 Best efforts service

Schoolio uses artificial intelligence to extract information from school emails. While we work hard to ensure accuracy, the nature of AI processing means that:

  • Not all information in a school email may be captured or extracted
  • Extracted information may occasionally contain errors or inaccuracies
  • Digests may occasionally be delayed or not delivered due to technical issues

Schoolio is a convenience tool to help you stay organised. It is not a substitute for reading your school communications directly. We strongly recommend you continue to check important school communications yourself, particularly for time-sensitive or high-value matters such as medical consent, payment deadlines, or trip bookings.

4.3 Service availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to notify users of planned maintenance in advance.

4.4 Service changes

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue features of the service at any time. Where changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. We will always aim to give you at least 30 days' notice before discontinuing the service entirely.

5. Free Trial and Subscription

5.1 Free trial

New users receive a 14-day free trial. No payment is required to start your trial. At the end of the trial period, your account will become inactive unless you choose to subscribe.

You can see your trial end date in your account settings at any time. Your data is retained after trial expiry (see our Privacy Policy), so you can subscribe and pick up where you left off.

5.2 Subscription

Schoolio is available as a monthly subscription at the price displayed at getschoolio.com/pricing at the time you subscribe. Prices are quoted inclusive of any applicable VAT.

Your subscription begins when you actively choose to subscribe and provide valid payment details. Your subscription will renew automatically on the same date each month unless you cancel.

5.3 Payment

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis. You can update your payment details at any time in your account settings.

5.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings or by contacting us at support@getschoolio.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will continue to have access to the service until that date.

5.5 No refunds

Subscription fees are non-refundable. If you cancel part-way through a billing period, you will not receive a pro-rata refund for any unused days, but you will retain access until the end of that period.

Exception: If you experience a significant and demonstrable service failure on our part, please contact us and we will consider your circumstances reasonably. We want to treat customers fairly and this will always be our guiding principle.

5.6 Consumer cancellation rights

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription from the date of purchase. However, by choosing to activate your subscription and use the service immediately, you acknowledge that the service begins within the cancellation window. If you cancel within 14 days but after the service has begun, we may charge a pro-rata amount for the days of service already provided.

5.7 Price changes

We may change our subscription price from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any price increase. If you do not wish to continue at the new price, you may cancel before the new price takes effect.

6. Acceptable Use

6.1 What you may use Schoolio for

You may use Schoolio solely to forward and organise legitimate school communications that you have personally received as a parent or guardian of a child attending that school.

6.2 What you must not do

You agree not to forward to your Schoolio address, or otherwise use the service in connection with:

  • Emails unrelated to your children's school (including personal, work, or commercial emails)
  • Emails containing sensitive personal data about third parties that is not incidental to a school communication
  • Bulk, spam, or unsolicited emails of any kind
  • Emails you did not legitimately receive (e.g. emails belonging to another person)
  • Any content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, or fraudulent

You also agree not to:

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, copy, or replicate any part of the Schoolio service
  • Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the service
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or its infrastructure
  • Abuse the referral programme, including creating fake accounts or referring yourself
  • Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the service without our written consent

6.3 Suspension and termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account immediately and without prior notice if we reasonably believe you have breached these acceptable use terms, misused the service, or acted in a way that is harmful to Schoolio, other users, or third parties.

In the event of termination for breach, no refund will be due for any remaining subscription period.

7. Intellectual Property

All intellectual property in the Schoolio service, including but not limited to the software, website, brand, logo, and digest format, is owned by or licensed to us. Nothing in these terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property other than as necessary to use the service as intended.

You retain ownership of the content of emails you forward to Schoolio. By forwarding emails to us, you grant us a limited licence to process that content solely for the purpose of generating your digest. We do not claim any ownership over your school communications.

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 What we are not liable for

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Schoolio shall not be liable for:

  • Any missed, delayed, or inaccurate digest caused by AI processing limitations, email delivery issues, or factors outside our control
  • Any loss or consequence arising from your reliance on digest content without independently verifying the original school communication
  • Any indirect, consequential, or special loss, including lost time, missed appointments, or financial loss arising from use of the service
  • Any loss arising from third-party service failures (e.g. WhatsApp, Stripe, Anthropic)
  • Any loss arising from events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure)

8.2 What we cannot exclude

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
  • Any breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
  • Any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law

8.3 Cap on liability

Subject to clause 8.2, our total liability to you in connection with the service shall not exceed the total amount paid by you to Schoolio in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

In plain English: Schoolio is a helpful tool, not a safety net. Always check your school's own communications for anything important. If something goes wrong on our end, we'll do our best to make it right, but our liability is limited to what you've paid us.

9. Third-Party Services

Schoolio relies on third-party services to operate, including WhatsApp (Meta), Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payments), and others listed in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Schoolio means your data may be processed by these providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services. Links or references to third-party services in the Schoolio digest (including affiliate links) are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for the content, pricing, or availability of third-party products or services.

9.1 Affiliate links

From time to time, your Schoolio digest may include links to relevant products or services (for example, school supplies or event-related items). Some of these links may be affiliate links, which means Schoolio may earn a small commission if you make a purchase. This never affects the price you pay. All affiliate content will be clearly labelled.

10. Privacy

Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains in full how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data, and sets out your rights under UK GDPR. By using Schoolio, you confirm that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Where we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect and display a notice in your dashboard.

Your continued use of Schoolio after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you may cancel your account before they take effect.

The date at the top of this page indicates when the terms were last updated.

12. Complaints

If you have a complaint about the service, please contact us in the first instance:

Email: support@getschoolio.com

We aim to acknowledge all complaints within 2 business days and resolve them within 14 days. If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may refer the matter to an alternative dispute resolution scheme or seek legal redress through the courts.

As a consumer, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform (notwithstanding Brexit, this remains available to UK consumers for cross-border disputes): ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr

13. General

13.1 Entire agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Schoolio regarding your use of the service and supersede all prior agreements or understandings.

13.2 Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

13.3 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

13.4 No assignment

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent. We may assign our rights and obligations, for example in the event of a business transfer, provided your rights under these terms are maintained.

13.5 Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under applicable local law.
